Just finished this book with a slight tear in my eye. Highly recommend. Interesting tid bit, the King of England has asked Catherine to lend him some of her army to, ‘keep the rebellious colonies in the Americas down.’ She hesitantly refused, needing her troops for Crimea, but who knows what would have happened if she had decided to help? Things may have worked out quite differently...
